Message from the President
December 23, 2006Everyone,
I am pleased to announce that Darlene Cardillo has been elected to the Board of Directors of TAEL effective January 1, 2007 and that Jim Faranda has accepted an invitation to join us as a representative. Jim is an old friend who has lots of experience in university organization, administration and management as well as grant writing experience.
So welcome aboard Darlene and Jim.
Other good news, we have been told that private donors have responded in a positive way and will be sending us checks after Jan.1. Looks like we will have a scholarship to present in May along with the Kuhmerker Award/prize.
Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a very happy and prosperous New Year! Thanks for all that you do for THE AMERUS EXCHANGE, LTD

The Core of the Amerus Exchange
December 1, 2006To quote Jack:
Why Blog?
November 11, 2006Someone I know well remarked: “I just got used to web sites and now blogs. What’s the difference? Do we need both?”
According to Blogger.com: “A blog gives you your own voice on the web. It’s a place to collect and share things that you find interesting— whether it’s your political commentary, a personal diary, or links to web sites you want to remember.”
Working on the new Amerus Exchange web site has made me nostalgic and wanting to connect with those people with whom I have shared several exchanges.
The purpose of the AMERUS web site is to spread the word about this not for profit organization whose goal is ”organize educational exchange programs between Russia and the US and to provide material support and recognition to students, educators and educational projects.” We also hope to through this site sollicit donations for grants, scholarships and cash awards that would help provide this material support and recognition.
Check out this blog about Blog Vs Web.
Another by Don Dodge claims: “The big difference is that web sites broadcast one way…to the viewer. Blogs are two way, in fact many way, communication where the readers create a conversation by leaving comments, trackbacks, and links. Web sites don’t lend themselves to leaving comments and starting a conversation.”
In other words, the big difference is conversation. So let’s talk… let’s reminisce!
Starting Another Blog
November 10, 2006According to the BBC, ”The web’s love affair with blogging shows no signs of abating according to the latest report from blog tracking firm Technorati. Every day 100,000 new blogs are created and 1.3 million posts are made, it found during its quarterly survey.”
So I’m starting my second blog.
